³What's wrong ?
²--------------
¹
-Have you seen the latest game from
"Bjarnes game bix"????
-WHAT, are you a gamefreak...HEY dudes,
this guy is a gamefreak..HAHAHA -You
fucking lamer !!...Piss off
Well, this could be one of the
conversations between a gamefreak and
guys who think they are cool (because
they watch demoes). But what's wrong
with being a gamefreak. As a lot of
people have said before, we all started
playing games when we got our first
computer. Then some freaks started
coding, and some found out that
something was called demoes, and
finally some guys thought that playing
games was fun, and therefore they
continued doing that. Now the two
first mentioned types find out that
something is called THE SCENE. They
start swapping, and they get a lot of
demoes/introes/musicdisks, you name it,
they think it's fun to watch demoes
etc. The guy who was a gamefreak is
still playing his games, but he finds
out about THE SCENE too, but he is a
bit low on contacts, because he only
wants games. He starts to buy his
stuff, but that just makes it even
worse, because everybody says that he
has just made the ultimate-lame-move.
If he has willpower and the guts, he
gives a shit about all the comments,
and continues buying his stuff, and
continues playing the games.
I hope you can reconize the little
story above from your own life. And as
I have said before, what's wrong with
playing games. You can't force anyone
to see demoes if they think that it's
the most boring shit they have ever
seen. And you can't force people who
watch demoes, to start playing games
(again). How come it's so important to
look at these demoes. Well, I enjoy
both things. I simply love to sit down
and watch a demo to the end, admireing
all the details in it, read the
scrolls, listen to the music, and bla
bla you know what I mean. BUT I also
enjoy playing a good and well made
game, and I thought that was okay,
until I visited a copy-party. We were
two guys from M12 there (our mainjobs
are swapping). When we had walked
around a little, and talked the people
we knew there (not many), we decided to
sit down and play a few games of KICK
OFF. It turned up to be a very bad
idea, because when people found out
that we actually played a game, we
suddenly became the ultimate lamers,
but you just can't sit down and start
coding if you don't know a shit about
what you are doing. Well, I guess we
finally reached the end of this
article, but before we end....a final
word: Just because other people don't
like the things you like, it doesn't
mean that they are stupid or ugly, so
let the people decide for it self
(ohh,very poetic).
If you have any comments to this
article, I think you should write
something about this to this mag or to
me, it's your decision: Thanks for
your time.
